• 3D microphone system for very good audio quality
  
  The revolutionary 3D microphone technology selects the one of the built-in microphones that best suits the purpose in order to always deliver very high quality sound recording.
  
  A round microphone with 360-degree sound pickup is activated when several sound sources are to be recorded (for example in meetings), and a directional microphone is activated during dictation.

• Built-in motion sensor
  
  The built-in motion sensor detects when the dictation recorder is placed on a table or when it is held in the hand, and then selects the microphone that best suits the recording situation.
  
  When the recording function is not active and the dictation recorder is placed on a table, it switches off automatically to save battery. When the dictation recorder is then picked up from the table again, it is activated and ready to use within a couple of seconds.

• Ergonomic and wear-free control
  
  The ergonomic slide switch provides a fast response and is designed for one-handed use. It allows easy access to recording and playback functions, and makes it possible to use functions such as insert, overwrite and merge.
  
  Thanks to the built-in light sensors that detect the position of the control, the result is a control that is completely wear-free and very durable.

• Docking station
  
  The sturdy docking station quickly charges the dictation recorder and ensures that the audio files are automatically transferred to your computer. If you connect a foot control to the docking station, the foot control can be used to operate the dictation recorder and thereby offer hands-free dictation.
  
  This also makes it possible for secretaries to transcribe the dictations without using a computer.

  The dictation recorder has a high-capacity Li-ion battery that can easily be charged via a standard micro-USB connection. The integrated light and motion sensors guarantee maximum battery life.
  
  The smart technology adjusts the brightness of the display and automatically enters standby mode when the dictation recorder is not in use, ensuring that the dictation recorder is always ready to work when you want it to.

• High data security
  
  The recordings can be encrypted in real time (AES or Rijndael, 256-bit). AES provides very good security and has been approved in the USA as an encryption algorithm for highly sensitive information. In addition, the dictation recorder can be protected against unauthorised use with a PIN code.

• Integrated barcode reader (only for DPM8500)
  
  The integrated barcode reader makes it possible to link client or patient data to a recording simply by scanning the barcode. It is even possible to scan from a screen*. This increases reliability and speeds up your workflow.
  * The result of the scan depends on the quality of the barcode as well as the resolution and settings of the screen.

• Remote configuration and maintenance
  
  The Philips SpeechExec Remote Device Manager software makes it possible for IT administrators to centrally manage, configure and update Philips dictation products - something that saves valuable time and resources. Management of dictation recorder settings can be done at individual level, group level or for the whole organisation.
