• 3D microphone system for excellent sound quality
  
  The revolutionary 3D microphone technology selects whichever of the built-in microphones best suits the purpose, so it can always deliver a very high quality audio recording.
  
  A round microphone with 360 degree sound pickup is activated when several sound sources are to be recorded (for example in meetings) and a directional microphone is activated for dictation.

• Built-in motion sensor
  
  The built-in motion sensor detects when the dictation recorder is placed on a desk or held in the hand and then selects the microphone best suited to the recording situation.
  
  When the recording function is not active and the dictation recorder is placed on a desk, it switches off automatically to save battery. When the dictation recorder is then picked up from the desk again, it is reactivated and ready to use within a couple of seconds.

• Ergonomic and wear-free switch
  
  The ergonomic slide switch gives a fast response and is designed for one-hand use. It provides easy access to recording and playback functions and makes it possible to use functions such as insert, overwrite and merge.
  
  Thanks to the built-in light sensors that detect the position of the switch, the switch is completely wear-free and highly durable.

• Docking station
  
  The sturdy docking station quickly charges the dictation recorder and ensures that the audio files are automatically transferred to your computer. If you connect a foot control to the docking station, the foot control can be used to operate the dictation recorder and thereby offer hands-free dictation.
  
  This also makes it possible for secretaries to transcribe the dictations without using a computer.

  The dictation recorder has a high-capacity Li-ion battery that can easily be charged via a standard micro-USB connection. The integrated light and motion sensors guarantee maximum battery life.
  
  The smart technology adjusts the brightness of the display and automatically enters standby mode when the dictation recorder is not in use, ensuring that the dictation recorder is always ready to work when you want it to.

• High data security
  
  The recordings can be encrypted in real time (AES or Rijndael, 256-bit) (requires SpeechExec Pro software). AES provides very good security and has been approved in the USA as an encryption algorithm for highly sensitive information. In addition, the dictation recorder can be protected against unauthorised use with a PIN code.

• Integrated barcode reader (only for DPM8500)
  
  The integrated barcode reader makes it possible to link client or patient data to a recording simply by scanning the barcode. It is even possible to scan from a screen*. This increases reliability and speeds up your workflow.
  * The scanning result depends on the quality of the barcode and the resolution and settings of the screen.

• Remote configuration and maintenance
  
  The Philips SpeechExec Remote Device Manager software allows IT administrators to centrally manage, configure and update dictation products from Philips - something that saves valuable time and resources. Management of dictation recorder settings can be done at individual level, group level or for the whole organisation.

• Classic mode - an analogue interface in your digital dictation recorder
  
  Many users still very much like their analogue devices for their simplicity and ease of use. By selecting classic mode on the dictation recorder, the appearance of the display changes and thereby gives the user the feeling of working with an analogue device.
